<p>There are many types of golf bag out there. Some are practical, some are just beautiful and some are both! Then there different size bags. Again, some are large, some even larger and som so enormous that you could take all you need to go on holiday in it!</p>
<p>As a rule of thumb, you only need a golf bag large enough to hold your clubs, spare balls, your glove, keys, tees, spare pencils, ball markers, a ball retriever, suntan lotion, a plastic mac, and an umbrella.</p>
<p>You could also include other items that are handy when outdoors, such as tissues, a small first-aid kit or at least some plasters and some anti-insect spray.</p>
<p>A pack of baby-wipes comes in quite handy sometimes, especially if you&#8217;re feeling hot or you get sprayed with sand in the bunker &#8211; it can be just what you need!</p>
<p>I happen to be allergic to the stings of bees, hornets and wasps, so my Epipen is an important addition to my bag. I am also hypoglycemic so I carry Lifesavers, the packs of which have to be replaced several times throughout the year because they have a tendency to melt.</p>
<p>One item that doesn&#8217;t need to be in your golf bag is your cell phone. If you must carry it, turn off the ringer as a courtesy to other players. If you must use it, be aware of others who might be taking a swing or putting their ball. You have to be considerate!</p>
<p>Having these items in your golf bag should provide everything you will need, even in a minor emergency (like a blister) or a major inconvenience, like a sudden rainstorm. Being prepared makes the game a great deal more fun.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s a smart little line in the Jimmy Buffet song &#8220;Fruitcakes&#8221; when his &#8216;lady&#8217; is lamenting: &#8220;I treat my body like a temple, You treat yours like a tent&#8221;</p>
<p>I can&#8217;t help thinking about this line whenever I think about all the people around the world who are on these garbage in, garbage out diet plans hoping to accomplish the weight loss success of those who are endorsing the items.</p>
<p>To be totally honest, it is possible to shed pounds by dieting alone. It is difficult but possible. It is also possible to be physically fit and still have a few extra pounds. To a large degree, we are what we eat. If we follow a high fat low fibre diet our bodies are going to lack the fuel required to burn the fat. At the same time if we are not providing our bodies with the tools it requires to create muscle it does not matter how many weights we lift.</p>
<p>When it comes to diet and fitness, the best results are achieved when they are combined together rather. Use your fitness routine to burn surplus calories and use your diet in order to provide your body with the nutrients and fuel it needs to build muscle.</p>
<p>A pound of muscle occupies less space on the body than a pound of fat. Pound for pound, I would much rather mine be built of muscle than fat. Dieting alone does not build muscle and that is something you would do well to remember.</p>
<p>You should also realize that as you are building muscle you may be shedding inches while not showing a great deal of progress on the scale. It is very important that you keep this in mind throughout the weight loss process. Do not measure your progress by the scales alone or you will observe deceptive results.</p>
<p>The problem is that far too many people do just this, grow frustrated and give up when they are in point of fact making progress. Do not allow yourself to be a victim of the scales. Look in the mirror, try on your tight pants, and measure your waistline. Measure your success by how you feel after climbing a flight of stairs not by the scales.</p>
<p>By building exercise into your diet routine you are also enabling your body to burn off any extra calories you may have consumed during the day. This means that if you want to have a small &#8216;cheat&#8217; during your day, you can make up for it by burning a few more calories than normal in the evening. This is not something that should happen often but an infrequent incidence is not going to make or break your diet.</p>
<p>You should also consider dieting and exercise as a hand and glove type of relationship. They fit together. Diet and exercise when combined can create incredible weight loss results for those who take them both seriously.</p>
<p>The thing to remember is that neither works well alone and neither will work unless you are willing to do the work. You must make this a priority in your life in order to achieve the best possible results.</p>

<p>Why should playing golf have taken off like that? I think it has to be because by playing golf you are being active outdoors with friends or colleagues competing in a leisurely game that you can never perfect.</p>
<p>Your scorecard, over time, will demonstrate your improvement, which keeps you playing time and time again.</p>
<p>Here follows an elementary lesson for those who know nothing about golf.</p>
<p>Golf is played on an eighteen-hole course. Each hole has its own &#8220;par&#8221; (value), which is the combined number of tee shots (drives), fairway shots, chips (short hits as you approach the green), and putts (on the green) you should need to take.</p>
<p>&#8216;Par&#8217; is determined by the length and difficulty of each hole and can range from three to six. So, if you get the golf ball in the hole in six shots on a &#8216;par six&#8217; hole, you &#8216;made par&#8217;; if you make it in five, it&#8217;s a &#8220;birdie&#8221; or seven, a &#8220;bogie&#8221;.</p>
<p>There are usually &#8220;hazards&#8221; of some sort or other on all the holes. Bodies of water, sand traps, and trees are strategically placed to make reaching the hole more challenging. Beginner golfers should seek to find courses to play that are easier to play with fewer hazards.</p>
<p>Players mark their own scorecard with the cumalative total of shots taken for each hole. After playing all the holes, the players add up their own scorecards and the one with the lowest score is the winner.</p>
<p>It is important for beginner golfers to not take themselves too seriously. It takes a long time to get good at this game; even though the professionals make it look so easy.</p>
<p>A good tip is to get the basics right from the start by taking a few lessons from the course &#8216;pro&#8217;, because then you will learn the correct posture and swing.</p>

<p>For the reason that each hole has a different difficulty level, a different par and different obstructions, saying that you should use your driver on every tee every time would be totally wrong.</p>
<p>This is something that you will learn over time as you learn the various shots you need to make according to the club, the placement of the ball and your personal swing.</p>
<p>Generally speaking, the lower the club number, the longer and lower your ball will fly over the ground. A 4-iron shot will travel a long and low trajectory and will most likely roll on the ground, whereas a 9-iron shot will have much more loft and go less distance both in the air and on the ground.</p>
<p>The professionals on TV make it look so easy, don&#8217;t they? They hit the ball long and straight time after time after time and never miss-hit the ball causing it trickle six or seven feet or completely miss the ball altogether.</p>
<p>A very important part of the game is driving and if you spend many hours at the driving range you will see a big improvement in your distance shots. You should keep using the same club in the experiment to see what works for you if you move the ball forward or backward in your stance. And take a lesson or two from a pro, if possible to learn the proper swing from the beginning.</p>
<p>Mastering the long game will help you get to the green in fewer strokes, keeping your score and frustration levels down. Remember that it takes a long time to learn consistency and also remember that you&#8217;re supposed to be having fun! So go and enjoy yourself.</p>

Most of what personal training is about is instruction, support, and accountability. Here are some things to consider when deciding how often to see your trainer: How experienced are you? How fit are you right now? Do you tend to fall off your exercise schedule? What can you afford?</p>
<p>If you are new to exercise I suggest meeting with a trainer 2 or 3 times a week. I realize this adds up quickly but the beginning stages of a new exercise regiment are a critical time. For example people with great intentions of getting in shape often injure themselves quickly because they don&#8217;t really know what they&#8217;re doing. The supervision by a trainer in the beginning will get you off to a great start by learning the basics about good form. This will help to prevent injuries down the road. Also, most people fall off course during the first 3 weeks of a new attempt at exercise. By having several training appointments early on you will gain the momentum you need in order to hang on through this tough period.</p>
<p>Lots of people are very well aware of what to do at the gym but just can&#8217;t seem to get to the gym. If this sounds familiar, it&#8217;s probably a good idea to always have a weekly appointment on the calendar. Accountability is a very legitimate reason to have a trainer. My clients say to me all the time: &#8220;If I didn&#8217;t have this appointment, I wouldn&#8217;t have exercised today.&#8221; Be honest with yourself and if you know you won&#8217;t do it on your own then some accountability might be just what you need.</p>
<p>If you are at a pretty good level of fitness but you do the same exercises all the time, having an appointment once a month to spice up your routine is a great idea. Here&#8217;s why: Have you heard people talk about the need to &#8216;confuse your body&#8217;? What it basically means is that you don&#8217;t want you body to become too comfortable. This happens when you do the same thing all the time. Ideally, you should be challenging your body and &#8216;confusing&#8217; it by doing different exercises with different levels of exertion. This is the best way to optimize your exercise. So, if you find yourself bored in your routine or not challenged but motivated enough to do it on your own, you would greatly benefit from a once a month appointment. The new material will keep you challenged and engaged.</p>
<p>Maybe you don&#8217;t need any instruction from a trainer because you&#8217;ve been exercising for years. Maybe you&#8217;re exercising consistently on your own and you don&#8217;t need the accountability. I would still suggest having a trainer that you check in with once a month. I&#8217;ll tell you why. Everybody needs a coach. Even professional athletes and Olympians need coaches. If you work out alone, it&#8217;s very easy to ignore injuries, fall into a run, get bored and not challenge yourself. Meeting with a trainer once a month is great way to mix up your workouts and keep them fresh and challenging. Also, a trainer will not let you ignore an injury.</p>
<p>Remember that the frequency of your training is not set in stone. Sometimes it may be more frequently, other times less frequently depending on what&#8217;s going on in your life. Your trainer will always work with you to do what is appropriate at any given time. If you&#8217;re lucky enough to have a trainer that you really enjoy and that&#8217;s helping you to get the results you want, they&#8217;re probably going to be in your life for a long time!</p>

<p>The Chinese are the first nation that come to mind when it you think of these things, but the Japanese are equally as sporty with a rich heritage of body contact sports in their past. Modern Japan still gives honor to the martial arts by holding tournaments and promoting their sports abroad,</p>
<p>One of these is Aikido. It is important to note the fact that the word comes from three Japanese characters from which one derives the meaning of the one word. Ai signifies &#8216;joining&#8217;, Ki signifies &#8217;spirit&#8217; and Do means &#8216;way&#8217;. From this we can understand why Aikido lies beyond only the physical skills of it students, especially since its first proponent, Ueshiba, focused on the spiritual and philosophical improvement of his students.</p>
<p>In Aikido, one is not taught aggression instead, one is trained to be in harmony with the adversary so that you are able to defeat him more easily. This might seem strange but it really works. In approaching an opponent, the aim of the Aikido practitioner is to be one with the opponent so as to be able to attack him where he is weakest and in so doing, divert or put him out of action, but never to kill him.</p>
<p>This is where Aikido becomes an art form. Art is something delightful to look at and something constructive and Aikido is all that. At least one of the contestants involved in the combat is searching for concord and concord can only be achieved if there is grace in the actions. The moves may be premeditated, but there is an air of finesse in carrying out these movements. Not a feminine grace, but a grace that emanates peace. The &#8216;art of peace&#8217; is what they call it in Aikido and it is one of the most affirmative influences of Aikido on its students and to everyone else who decides to find out about this Japanese martial art.</p>
<p>Some of the techniques in Aikido embrace the following.</p>
<p><u>Ikkyo</u> is the first technique. Using this technique, you manipulate an adversary by using one hand to hold his elbow and one to hold near the wrist. This action is supposed to allow you to pin your opponent down to the ground.</p>
<p><u>Nikyo</u>, the second technique, is when you perform a wrist lock which enables you to twist the arm of your opponent which will in turn cause nerve pressure.</p>
<p><u>Sankyo</u>, the third technique, is a technique that creates upward-spiraling tension throughout the arm, elbow and shoulder. There are many other techniques but the first three are enough to give you a basic idea.</p>
<p>When learning Aikido, it is important to bear in mind that, along with building physical strength, you will need to improve your mind to be able to overpower your adversary. Just like in any art form, it takes a great deal of practice and discipline to perfect the art of Aikido. The key thing to remember is, that anyone who wants to get into the art, should have the willpower to give honor to the art by performing it in the best way they can.</p>
